Industrial Design Technician


Status: Full-Time, Permanent Position | Location: Vaudreuil-Dorion, QC

OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Associate Director of Product Development, the Industrial Design Technician plays a crucial role in supporting the product development team by assisting in the creation and development of innovative product designs. This role involves utilizing technical skills and knowledge of design principles to contribute to the creation of functional and aesthetically appealing products. The Industrial Design Technician collaborates closely with product development managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to bring concepts to life and ensure the successful execution of design projects.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Product Development
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative and aesthetically pleasing industrial designs.
  • Conduct research and stay updated on the latest design trends, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Create detailed design specifications, including sketches, 3D models, and technical drawings.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback to enhance product functionality and appeal.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure the successful implementation of designs into final products.
  • Provide support with engineer on measuring 2D wheel drawings and input the data into our proprietary software. (Creator)

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in industrial design, Product Design, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in industrial design, preferably in a manufacturing or product design environment.
  • Proficiency in CAD software and other design tools. (e.g., SolidWorks)
  • Strong knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and ergonomic principles.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey design concepts and ideas.
  • Knowledge of SAP ByDesign, or similar ERP, would be an asset.
  • Being an automotive enthusiast is a major asset.

  • Any combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
  • This position may require 5% travel (domestic/international). A valid passport is required.
